Of the long list of things not to do at a funeral, a photoshoot is probably one of the most important. But that’s exactly what fitness model Jayne Rivera did. On October 25, the 20-year-old uploaded a series of snapshots with her father’s coffin, after he died the week before. Rivera can be seen smiling as she poses for the eight photos she uploaded to Instagram. Swift criticism followed, leading Rivera to shut down her Instagram.
In an attempt to outdo each other, models have often turned to highly controversial online photo shoots, most of which have received strong criticism. In March 2020, a Russian model posed in a bikini made with respirators, as the world suffered an acute shortage of them. In January 2019, Playboy model Marisa Papen was arrested for posing nude in the Vatican. In January 2021, Brazilian model Luana Sandien posed topless in Dubai, which is illegal in the city.
Rivera’s photos were not only posted on Instagram, but also on Twitter after news of her snapshots spread across the Internet. The widespread condemnation led Rivera to shut down her Instagram.
Not much is known about the 20-year-old model. The Florida native reportedly has a large following on TikTok and Instagram, where she frequently poses in a bikini. She also has an OnlyFans page, where she charges her subscribers $ 17.99. Her website describes her as a “professional athlete” based in Miami. Before shutting down her Instagram, she had more than 80,000 followers on the platform. Rivera’s father is reportedly a veteran, but it is unclear in which branch of the military he served.
On October 25, she uploaded a series of photos of her funeral, in front of her father’s coffin. Dressed in a short black dress with stockings, Rivera tastefully blocks her father’s face by posing in front of him, as she smiles. “Butterfly flies away. Rip Papi, you were my best friend. A life well lived. #Rip #papi #veteran #ptsd #funeral # neverforgotten,” she captioned the post, which amassed around 12,000 likes before the account of her. But Rivera reportedly lost a “large chunk” of her followers, while others criticized her for her photoshoot. While she hasn’t provided an explanation for her photos, Rivera has since shut down her Instagram.
We found a GoFundMe page created by Rivera for her dad. She claims her father is a disabled veteran and is seeking $ 1,000 to “help the family.” So far, he has raised over $ 700. It is unclear how much Rivera earns through her modeling and why she needs to raise funds.
Here’s just a small sampling of the criticism Rivera faced online. One user tweeted: “Okay, I’ve finally seen the worst social media post of all time, and I need to share it so everyone knows how much the bar has been smashed into the ground.” Another said: “He deactivated her account. That’s what you get for dressing up and posing horny at a fucking funeral!”
Before her Instagram went down, some users also left critical comments on the post. “Jayne, delete these photos, apologize for your lack of discretion or I will stop following you and hope others will do the same,” wrote one fan. Another replied: “Not cool Jayne, your father was a decorated vet, a photo taken next to his coffin should be under you. May he rest in eternal peace.” One person said, “Shit is just vile and downright disgusting.”
Although Rivera’s Instagram is down, her other profiles seem to be still active. That said, she hasn’t posted anything on TikTok or YouTube since October 25.
