Ruby Joy Ketchum is a singer-songwriter. She is the daughter of BMI award-winning songwriter and Grand Ole Opry member Hal Ketchum and celebrity stylist Gina Ketchum. In December 2017, Ruby Joy Ketchum signed with BMI for exclusive representation. She said at the time: “Having grown up going to BMI No. 1 party and having the awards hang on our walls at home, I am excited to now myself be a member of the amazing family and community of songwriters here. My mom and dad introduced me to the Opry Stage when I was 11 days old. I literally took my naps in my dad’s guitar case.”

In June 1998, Ketchum was diagnosed with a neurological disorder called acute transverse myelitis, an ailment of the spinal column, which left Ketchum without the use of the left side of his body.
On Sunday, April 14, 2019, Hal Ketchum’s wife, Andrea Ketchum, announced on his Facebook page that he is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and is no longer able to tour or perform.
“Dear friends and fans of Hal, this is Andrea, Hal’s wife. I know everyone is wondering why there are no future tour dates and speculations as to the reason.

“Our family would like to share the cause for this. Unfortunately, Hal is suffering from Alzheimer’s/ Dementia. Dementia is an exhausting and confusing illness and now it’s time for Hal to stay home with loved ones.
“Hal is otherwise healthy and happy, enjoying time with his family and friends. We all deeply appreciate how much love you all have for Hal and how much his music means to you!
“Also, a heartfelt thank you to all the incredible musicians that have joined him on this journey, with more than special love to Kenny Grimes, without whom , this last year of shows would not have been possible. Hal Ketchum Death
Hal Ketchum died on November 23, 2020, at the age of 67. His passing was announced on his official Facebook page. His wife Andrea wrote: “With great sadness and grief we announce that Hal passed away peacefully last night (Monday, Nov. 23) at home due to complications of Dementia. May his music live on forever in your hearts and bring you peace.”
