Neil Pizzo a Florida corrections officer has been placed on leave after grappling with a teen inmate at a juvenile center, according to TMZ.
Neil Pizzo is a Florida corrections deputy who was caught on camera attacking a 17-year-old black teenager at a Juvenile Assessment Center on Tuesday. The deputy officer has been placed on administrative leave on Friday morning following the altercation.
The teenager, by name Terrance Devon Reed III who was previously arrested and charged with contempt of court, probation violations, and cocaine possession, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he was seen for a scrape to his head after the violent attack. Records show the nurse at the facility tried to see if Reed had injuries but he refused to care.

Video Attacking The Teenager
In the surveillance footage, it shows Reed sitting on a bench with his arms tucked in his shirt when Pizzo marches toward him. Reed stands up and takes his arms out, the deputy immediately goes for his throat. A struggle ensues before Pizzo throws Reed to the ground, but at no point does the teenager appear to fight back.
Another deputy jumps in to try to wrangle Reed’s feet, and that’s when Pizzo strikes the teen on the back of the head multiple times. Reed’s then cuffed and helped to his feet.
Reed is accused of grabbing the deputy’s neck. Pizzo took Reed to the ground and hit him multiple times before handcuffing him and taking him to a cell but not before Reed suffering abrasions to his head.
Documents show Reed quickly pulled his arms out of his shirt as Deputy Pizzo was approaching him and Pizzo says Reed had his fist clenched and felt he needed to step in and defend himself.

An incident report written by another deputy recounts Reed telling Deputy Pizzo that if they were in the streets he would “blow your head off, and kill you.”
That, of course, doesn’t justify the violence by the deputy, and Sheriff Tom Knight says he’s disappointed in what he saw and Pizzo’s failure to de-escalate the situation.
Knight says he placed the deputy on administrative duty while an internal investigation is conducted.

Who is Terrence Devon Reed
Terrence Devon Reed, 17, was hospitalized after Sarasota County Deputy Neil Pizzo approached him as he sat on a bench with his arms tucked underneath a t-shirt, according to video footage of the incident. Reed stands up and takes his arms out from under the garment before Pizzo lunges at his throat and begins tussling with him on the ground.
Pizzo can be seen raining blows down on the writhing teen before another officer enters the frame and holds him down to apply handcuffs. Several more officers arrive before Reed – whose t-shirt was torn during the struggle – is removed from the holding room.
Reed had been placed under arrest for cocaine possession, probation violations, and contempt of court before the incident and was being uncooperative with a police lineup.
Sheriff Tom Knight said that Pizzo did not sufficiently de-escalate the situation and that he was being placed on administrative duty pending an internal probe.
