Mark Patton Wiki, Biography

The well-known actor Mark Patton is seeking help from the public to cover his medical expenses. He is currently in a hospital, receiving treatment for “AIDS-related ailments,” according to his manager, Peter Valderrama.

Valderrama recently launched a GoFundMe page where he stated on Patton’s behalf that the actor’s health issues have prevented him from acting. Peter also mentioned that Mark hasn’t revealed anything, but has canceled the events at the music box theater and the horror house store. He continued:

“Mark is currently in a Mexican hospital where they speak very little English, and they are completely overwhelmed with covid cases there. He needs to be transported to an American hospital where he can receive more specialized care in a safer environment.”

Peter said that Mark had requested and asked everyone in the horror community for help. The GoFundMe page also had a statement from the actor himself, which read:

“Basically I’m asking for help. I won’t be ashamed. I just want to be healthy and home with my family. I need to move to American Hospital in Mexico where they can give me the treatment I desperately need. American Hospital is $300 a day with nurses , doctors and medicines. The Mexican hospital is overwhelmed with Covid and I am too committed to stay here.”

Mark Patton stated that he plans to fly to Chicago, but he will do so once his health returns to normal. He concluded by writing that his medical challenges have left him in financial trouble in recent years and he would appreciate help with his recovery:

“If someone can contribute, it would be an option to save my life to be recovering in a place that can take care of my condition.”

The GoFundMe page has raised $36,150 so far.

Mark Patton’s health problems began in 1999

In 1999, Mark Patton was diagnosed with HIV. He fell ill and had to be taken to the hospital for complications caused by pneumonia, thrush and tuberculosis.

While speaking to HIV Plus in 2013, Patton said his health problems began at a time when he was getting the best deals in Hollywood, but everyone around him knew he wasn’t doing well. Speaking about the HIV diagnosis, he said,

“I found out when I turned 40 and three days later I was in the hospital. But because of the infections I had, they forced me to take TB drugs and that didn’t mix with the older HIV drugs. There were so many side effects. It was as if I had been poisoned. I almost died there, but luckily my friends took me to an AIDS health clinic, which saved my life.”

His health improved and, after moving to Mexico, he became romantically linked to Héctor Morales Mondragón. The duo subsequently married and currently operate an art store in Puerto Vallarta where Patton’s works are also available for sale.
