Juliana Santana: 16-Year-Old Girl Shot Dead by Stepfather, Who Kills Himself Before His Trial for Raping Her

A 16-year-old Massachusetts girl was kidnapped and murdered Thursday by her stepfather, who was out on bond for raping her three years earlier and had a restraining order against him.

Juliana Santana, 49, shot himself have shooting the girl, who has been identified by family as Christina. Police found him and his victim after the murder-suicide by tracking him via the GPS monitor he was wearing, WBTS reported. They were in Santana’s vehicle parked outside his victim’s home.

Investigators said Santana abducted Christina while she was walking near her home after school on Thursday. The manager of a nearby market said she called a sibling from the parking lot and said Santana had kidnapped her. The family called police, who were unable to find them in time.

Santana was charged with rape after the victim told investigators he had sexually assaulted her multiple times, beginning in October 2019 when she was 11. He was arrested the day of the report but quickly released on a $30,000 bond.

He was ordered to wear the GPS monitor and have no contact with anyone under 18, including the victim, but an order and a GPS monitor alone won’t stop a perpetrator from violating the order.

Santana’s trial was scheduled to begin on July 29.

Acton-Boxborough Regional School District Superintendent Peter Light said the victim attended Acton-Boxborough Regional High School and that counseling would be made available to all students in the district, WCVB said.
