Biloxi police released a statement regarding the arrest of a Mobile man in connection with a fatal shooting at the Golden Nugget Casino early Saturday morning. The statement says the following:
“On Friday, September 18, 2021, at approximately 12:34 am, the Biloxi Police Department received multiple 911 calls regarding a man firing a pistol inside the Golden Nugget Casino, located at 151 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi, Mississippi. Additional calls were indicated to 911 a man was shot and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
A suspect was arrested after a nightly shooting at a Golden Nugget casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, that left an individual dead, according to local police. On Friday morning, around 12:34 a.m. Local time, multiple 911 calls were made to the Biloxi Police Department about an individual who fired a handgun inside the scene, police said in a statement on social media.
Authorities added that additional calls to police indicated that a victim was shot and the suspect left the crime scene on foot. Officers from the Biloxi Police Department, as well as those from nearby stations, later detained the suspect, who has been identified as 30-year-old Jereme Lamond Jones of Mobile, Alabama, in the Bay Bridge area of Biloxy.
Later, police located another man near the casino, who had received multiple gunshot wounds, and provided emergency first aid. The victim, who has only been identified by police as a 41-year-old black man from Gulfport, Mississippi, was pronounced dead at the scene just before 1 a.m. local time.
In the initial police investigation, officers found that Jones and the victim “were involved in a physical altercation outside the casino.”
The victim then ran into the building, where he was chased by Jones, who reportedly “fired several shots at close range,” police said. Authorities noted that no other customers at the casino were injured and it is currently unknown if the two men had a record or what led to their fight.
Jones has now been charged with first-degree murder and was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $ 1,000,000 bond that was set by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain, according to the policeman.

This was an isolated incident between two individuals and is still under investigation by the Biloxi Police Department. We recommend contacting them for the latest information.”
