Some big announcements await Doctor Who fans. The ever popular actress Jemma Redgrave returns to the series reprising her role from Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Another big news that came along with this is that UNIT, the fan-favorite organization committed to protecting the Earth, is also returning in the new season of the show.
The fourteenth series of Doctor Who will premiere in 2024, with a festive episode scheduled for the latter part of 2023. Although the new season of the show is still a long way off, new details about the show are now emerging. Confirmed in an official tweet from the Doctor Who Twitter account, another big announcement saw Aneurin Barnard join the cast for the fourteenth series. She will play the role of the mysterious Roger ap Gwilliam.
Who is Jemma Redgrave and what role did she play in Doctor Who?
Jemma belongs to the illustrious Redgrave family, perhaps one of Britain’s most famous acting dynasties. She was born in London to actor Corin Redgrave and his first wife, Deirdre Hamilton-Hill, a model. The actress is also the granddaughter of Sir Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson.
Born into a family of artists and actors, Jemma was naturally drawn towards art from an early age. She attended Godolphin and Latymer School in Hammersmith and quickly followed with a degree from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Shortly after her graduation, she landed a major role in Strindberg’s Easter, and her name rose to fame early on.

She has a long arc that spans many stories in the later seasons of the series. After previously parting ways with the role, Jemma is set to return as the popular character in the next season of Doctor Who.

“That’s been overblown. If that were the budget, I’d be speaking to you from my base on the Moon… That’s not the budget, and I’m concerned that misinformation like that creates false expectations. However, we have a beautiful , good budget, and we’re very happy with the way we’re processing it.”
