Jason Alan Thornburg Charged – Arrested
Homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman said firefighters found the three dismembered bodies after putting out the burning dumpster near a business in the 3100 block of Bonnie Drive. The police said that The victims initially appeared to be a child, a young woman and a man. But researchers have since identified them as two women and one man.
The male victim has been identified as David Lueras, 42, who is known to frequent the Dallas area and has ties to Euless, where Thornburg was arrested Monday on a capital murder count of multiple people, Loughman said. Video surveillance of the scene led investigators to a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by the suspect, later identified as Thornburg, requesting all information on the 2005-2010 models in Dallas and Tarrant counties.
After reviewing the list of more than 7,000 vehicles, the name Thornburg emerged. The department knew of him from a suspicious death investigation in May, Loughman said.
The cops had no probable cause to arrest Thornburg in that case, but they managed to trace his Jeep Cherokee to a residence in Arlington. Investigators then located him at a hotel in Euless, where they obtained video surveillance showing a guest leaving a room at the Mid City Inn with containers containing suspicious body parts of the victims, Loughman said.
“That guy made several trips to and from that location to add additional items to the back of his car,” Loughman said. Thornburg left the Arlington residence Monday afternoon and was greeted by Fort Worth detectives who asked him to speak with them. He accepted an interview and admitted his involvement in the deaths of the three victims inside the dumpster.
Thornburg gave “intimate details” about how he killed the victims, which Loughman said he was unable to provide due to the ongoing investigation. Thornburg also admitted to a previous homicide in May that killed another woman in another state. Loughman declined to provide additional details, saying authorities in the anonymous jurisdiction would have to provide more information.
A search is underway in the motel room where Thornburg was staying, Loughman said. Subsequently, Thornburg was charged with multiple counts of capital murder and arrested without incident in Euless. He is being held on a $ 1 million bonds in the Tarrant County Jail.
Lueras had stayed with Thornburg at the Mid City Inn for several days before the murder, but knew the female victims only “casually,” said Loughman, who declined to provide a motive for the killings. “It really couldn’t even get into the psyche of someone who is capable of doing this,” Loughman said.
