KHOU reported that McDonald was wearing a mask when he allegedly broke into his mother’s house through an open window. Police said McDonald attacked his mother and aunt and left the residence, but she returned when officers arrived. McDonald reportedly told responding officers that she was not involved in the stabbing. However, she was arrested after her aunt identified her as the attacker, according to KHOU.
Mendoza died in the hospital. KHOU reported that the aunt was stabbed six times, but is expected to be fine.McDonald was charged with murder and robbery with the intent to commit a felony. She is due to return to court on Wednesday. The stabbing occurred around 9 p.m. Monday at Willow Green Apartment Homes on Willow Place Drive and Misty Willow Drive in Northwest Houston. The suspect, Ericka McDonald, 29, is charged with breaking into her mother’s apartment prior to the fatal stabbing.
