Anoushka Nara Giltsoff is the wife of Sean Lock, was an English comedian and actor. He began his career in comedy as a comedian, won the British Comedy Award in 2000 in the category of Best Live Comic, and was nominated for the Perrier Comedy Award.
Lock appeared frequently on stage, television, and radio. His routines were delivered in a deadpan style. He was a team captain on the Channel 4 comedy panel show 8 out of 10 cats from 2005 to 2015, and in 8 out of 10 cats, he counted down from 2012 to 2021. He wrote material for Bill Bailey, Lee Evans, and Mark Lamarr and was voted 55th best stand-up comic on Channel 4’s 100 Greatest Stand-Ups in 2007 and again on the 2010s updated list as of 19th best stand-up comic.
Lock made regular appearances on various radio panel shows, edited the script for Bill Bailey’s 1998 BBC2 series Is It Bill Bailey ?, and had his own show on BBC Radio 4, 15 Minutes of Misery. As the title suggested, these shows ran for a 15-minute time slot and also featured actors Kevin Eldon and Hattie Hayridge. The premise was that Lock was eavesdropping on his neighbors in his South London tower (all played by Lock, Eldon, and Hayridge) using a listening device installed by his plumber, “Hot Bob” (Eldon), who was known as “The Cursed King”. (and “it had nothing to do with meat or se**x”). 15 Minutes of Misery ran for a series of six shows in late 1998 and early 1999.
15 Minutes of Misery would later expand to the half-hour series 15 Storeys High. [From apparently the same apartment block, Lock’s character now received a roommate (hapless Errol) and a job at the local restrooms, as well as a somewhat grim and intolerant demeanor. The listening device was no longer used, but the antics of Lock’s neighbors still featured heavily on the show. The plots in this series were more linear in a “traditional” sitcom style, although they still displayed Lock’s kind of dark and surreal humor. 15 Storeys High would go on to television after two radio series, with Lock’s character renamed ‘Vince’, for two other series in 2002 and 2004.

Lock had three brothers. He and his wife, Anoushka Nara Giltsoff, had two daughters born in 2004 and 2006, and a son born in 2009. Lock was a supporter of Chelsea F.C. and was an active supporter of the Muswell Hill Soup Kitchen.
In December 2020, less than a year before his death, Lock made a video to help raise money for Edible London, a charity that aimed to provide ingredients for a million meals to help those struggling in the confinement. In the clip, he joked, “I’m Sean Lock. You might know me as that guy on TV whose name you can’t remember.”

Sean Lock Cause of Death
Lock was diagnosed with skin cancer in 1990, attributing the condition to overexposure to the sun while working as a builder in the early 1980s. After seeing his doctor, he was referred to a dermatologist at Guy’s Hospital in London. He made a full recovery. In May 2012, he supported him at a Sun Awareness event at the hospital.
Lock died of cancer in his home on August 18, 2021, at the age of 58.
Around 200,000 tweets about Sean Lock were sent out within the first five hours after his passing. Among those who expressed their regret over Lock’s passing were cast members of 8 of 10 Cats Jimmy Carr, Jon Richardson and Susie Dent; dozens of comedians, including Ricky Gervais, Bill Bailey, Lee Mack, and Eddie Izzard; Chelsea Soccer Club .; and Channel 4 and iTV television networks.
Bill Bailey told The Guardian that Lock was just as “brilliantly funny” off stage as he was on stage, and that his silly conversations would leave him “helpless with laughter.” Bailey described him as a kind and generous man who was rigorous in his approach to writing comedy. In a writers room, Bailey said, Lock “prompted you to find a better joke, a new line, the sweet spot of a perfect joke.” When the results worked, Lock would have a “big laugh,” Bailey recalled.
His agent, Off the Curb Productions, said Lock died at home surrounded by his family: “Sean was one of Britain’s best comedians, his limitless creativity, lightning-fast wit and the absurd brilliance of his work marked him as a unique voice in British comedy “. . Sean was also a loving husband and father of three children. Sean will be deeply missed by all who knew him. ”
Lee Mack, a comedian and close friend, also paid tribute to Lock: “I think the appeal of him as a viewer was that it felt like you were with your partner in the pub and he made you laugh. I was one of the lucky few who was that fellow from the pub and he was making me laugh. Much. More than almost anyone I’ve ever met. “Lock, Mack said, could” talk about tucking a parakeet up his butt and yet levitate it into a hilarious art form. “Diane Morgan tweeted that Lock was one of” the most fun I’ve ever met “and described 15 Storeys High as” an absolute genius. ”
Harry Hill said of Lock: “If you tell jokes for a living, it’s hard to enjoy a comedian the way a gambler would, because you know all the tricks, you can see where a joke is going and often get to the punchline. Long before the comic tells it. Not so with Sean, that’s why we comedians love him. Often, he had no idea where he was going with a routine. ”
