Anne Jordan, 51, of West Nashville, was arrested and charged with six counts of child neglect after a three-month-old boy was found dead along with six other young children, left alone.
The Metro Nashville Police Department reported the incident took place on April 10, 2023 at Anne’s Bellevue residence, where she ran an unlicensed day care home.
Newsweek reported that in an online statement, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department mentioned that Anne Jordan, who remains in custody, may face further charges as the investigation into the baby’s death is ongoing and awaits the autopsy report and toxicology.
Anne Jordan was found by authorities with self-inflicted injuries
WKRN-TV reported that, according to police, Anne Jordan was not present when the mother of the deceased three-month-old baby and another father found him and six other children, as young as 16 months, in her apartment.
WSMV reported that the Tennessee Department of Human Services mentioned that on the afternoon of April 10, the mother of the three-month-old girl, along with another father who came to pick up their son, found Anne’s apartment door open.
According to a WSMV report, documents from the Tennessee Department of Human Services state that the parents entered the apartment and discovered the baby dead and cold to the touch on the bed.
NewsChannel 5 Nashville WTVF reported that authorities found items one would have in a daycare, including several cribs and a room converted into a playroom inside the apartment of Anne Jordan, aka Annie Clark, even though she did not have any sort of license. . or authorization to operate one.
WVLT reported that the Metro Nashville Police Department reported that Anne was found at a nearby state park with self-inflicted injuries.
According to a WKRN-TV report, Annie was taken into custody on the afternoon of June 30, 2023 in Hickman County and taken back to Nashville that same night.
WSMV reported that, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Annie located the unconscious baby in a bassinet, she attempted CPR and, when she was unable to revive the child, she escaped and attempted suicide.
Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital reported all six unattended children were healthy and said the deceased infant had no obvious signs of injury, trauma, or medical problems.
Anne Jordan made a Facebook post after the death of the 3-month-old baby
WVLT reported on May 12, 2023, that Anne Jordan made a Facebook post in which she said it’s hard to lose the race and reset at 51 and she concluded the post with an apology.
According to the WVLT report, Anne Jordan wrote:
“Hello, I don’t know if this is the right time to surface or not, but after opening Messenger and IG the other day, I felt compelled to do this sooner than I expected. It’s hard to lose the race you worked on so much”. hard to build and made me so proud, and hard to start over at 5. I’m sorry for the concern I’ve caused people.”
Criminal defense attorney David Raybin told WSMV4 that it’s not smart to post on Facebook while under investigation for possible homicide.
David also mentioned that Anne has yet to be charged for the deceased baby as the autopsy reports are pending and an unfair charge would weaken the case.
WVLT reported that David Raybin said:
“It would look terrible if the person was charged with murder, it turned out to be sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) or something like that,” Raybin said. “It could contaminate the whole case.”
According to the WVLT report, the parents of the deceased child are cooperating with the Metropolitan Police and the District Attorney’s Office in the investigation, and an eviction hearing filed by Anne Jordan’s apartment complex is scheduled for June 4, 2023.
