Andre Harrell was born on 09-26-1960 in Harlem, New York, in the state of New York, United States. He was an American rapper, musician, record producer, former CEO / president of Motown Records, and founder of Uptown Records and Record Label.

All that is known is that during their high school days, Harrell and Alonzo Brown, their high school friend, formed a rap/hip-hop duo named Dr. Jekyll (Harrell) and Mr. Hyde (Brown). The group achieved great success with three hit songs “Genius Rap”, “Fast Life” and “AM / PM”. Despite this early success in the music industry, Harrell did not consider a career in music because he had other career intentions.
He continued his studies by attending Lehman College in the Bronx, where he majored in communications and business administration. He wanted to become a newscaster. After three years, he dropped out of college and went to work at a local radio station.

During the decade of the 1980s, he started working at Def Jam Records. After working there for a few years, he formed his own record label called Uptown Records. Through his company, he also produced some television shows and renamed his company Uptown Enterprises. Looking at his experience, he was offered CEO post at Motown records and discovered various artists during his tenure.
In addition to that, he also hosted the famous show Champagne & Bubbles. During the later part of his life, he served as the Vice-President of Harrell Records which were distributed through the famous Atlantic Records. He inked deals with artists such as Netta Brielle, and Hamilton Park. Apart from his professional life, he had a history of illnesses and finally succumbed in May 2020.
