The bodies of the two women, Patricia Anne Lumpkin and Elizabeth Anne Beaver, were located Thursday near the wreckage.
Venice police commander Andy Leisenring said the four travelers left St. Petersburg and traveled to Venice around 5 p.m. They stopped the plane at the air terminal and ate at a restaurant on the pier. They returned to the air terminal after 9:00 p.m. and crashed shortly after 9:30 p.m.
Crews from the US Coast Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Preservation Commission and the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office proceeded to search the trash field Thursday morning.
The Public Transport Safety Board and the Government Flight Organization have also been informed. The reason for the accident was not quickly clear. Venice is about 58 miles south of St. Petersburg on the Florida Inlet Coast.
In December, a couple and their little daughter had been killed in a similar accident off Venice.
