Justin Lee Miller, the man said to have been with Mercedes at the time the Silver Alert was issued, is a family friend who was supposed to be babysitting the boy. He and his vehicle were found Monday, but Mercedes is still missing. Miller, 37, and Mercedes’ parents Kenneth Lain and Tiffany Coburn were taken into custody. All three are charged with negligence with a dependent.
It is unclear whether Miller is believed to have handed the child over to someone else. Police reportedly believe Mercedes is in Marshall County, but they appear to have few leads and leads at this time, but Silver Alert indicates the boy could be in extreme danger.
