Zach Lean is in a medically induced coma fighting for his life at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. ABC6 reported. Philadelphia police released surveillance video Monday showing the brutal assault on a delivery man last week by a group of teenagers who surrounded him on bicycles.
On Saturday, one of the teens involved in the Aug. 17 attack turned himself in. Herbert Morrison, 19, faces charges of aggravated battery, police said. Authorities said Lean hit his head on the sidewalk and had a seizure during the attack, which occurred around 10:15 p.m. They said they are still unclear about what caused the confrontation.

In the video, the teens surround Lean and attack him, then bike away when a car arrives on the scene.
Lean’s wife, Christine Torrisi, said she had already gone to bed while her newlywed husband made his last round of grocery deliveries. She said she missed two calls from the hospital before finally picking up the phone to learn that her husband had a traumatic brain injury from the attack.
“I love him more than anything in the world. He is my brand new husband. I can’t believe I had to sign papers saying, ‘Yes, please save your life,’ ”Torrisi said last week.

Police said there was a fight between Lean and the teens. One of the teens then hit Lean, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the sidewalk, police said. Lean was unconscious and then began having seizures. He was transferred to Jefferson University Hospital, where he remains in a coma and in critical condition.
“He fell and that’s when he hit the ground and broke his skull,” Lean’s wife, Christine Torrisi-Lean, told NBC10. On Saturday, 19-year-old Herbert Morrison turned himself in to police. He was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and other related crimes.
“I really don’t think they knew how much they hurt him and I think that’s why this guy called and confessed,” Torrisi-Lean said. Police continue to search for the other teens involved and released surveillance video of the attack on Tuesday.
“I cannot allow myself to believe that these young men are monsters,” said Torrisi-Lean. “I think they did something monstrous and I think they can redeem themselves.” Torrisi-Lean told NBC10 that she and her husband have been married for three months.
“We are trying to start a family. We just got married and we want to have children,” she said. While her husband remains in a coma and critical condition, Torrisi-Lean is hopeful that he will recover. She has been singing her wedding song for him while she lies in a hospital bed.
“I started singing to her the other day and after the first verse, her heart rate skyrocketed,” she said. “I feel like I can talk about it because it just doesn’t feel real. It doesn’t feel real. I’ve seen him lying in this bed. I’ve missed him every day at our house. I’m devastated.”
