A woman is facing assault charges after allegedly biting off a chunk of her friend’s tongue while they were kissing. “I believe this is the first case of this nature in my 27 years in the prosecutor’s office,” Eric Smith said.
It is claimed that they were consensually kissing, but when the victim put his tongue in her mouth she told him to stop.When they resumed kissing, she then bit off the end of his tongue.
Wedgeworth was jailed on a $25,000 bond. A Feb. 19 pretrial conference has been scheduled.

Police say Youlette Wedgeworth and her 68-year-old victim were long-term friends, while her victim said they were dating.
It is claimed that they were consensually kissing, but when the victim put his tongue in her mouth she told him to stop.
The victim is currently in hospital and it is unclear whether the piece of tongue has been re-attached.
Investigation Report
Police were called to the man’s Center Line apartment, north of Detroit, Tuesday to find him bleeding from the mouth and missing an inch of his tongue. Officers found the missing portion of his tongue in a bedroom. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Feb. 19.
