On June 10, 2025, comedian and actress Wally Baram shared a distressing account involving her mother, who was struck in the head by a rubber bullet during peaceful protests in Los Angeles. The demonstrations erupted in response to immigration raids authorized by U.S. President Donald Trump, which targeted Latino-heavy neighborhoods, per BBC reports.

Wally Baram, a 22-year-old artist of Mexican-Syrian heritage, began her journey in entertainment as a stand-up comic, appearing on major platforms such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. She later ventured into screenwriting and currently stars in Amazon Prime Video’s Overcompensating.

Taking to her Instagram stories on Tuesday, Wally revealed that her 70-year-old mother sustained a head injury after being hit by a rubber bullet, turning what had been a nonviolent demonstration into a chaotic scene. She posted a graphic photo of her mother’s injury.

“Warning, next story graphic. They hit my mom—70-year-old Mexican woman—in the back of the head with a rubber bullet. If there’s ever evidence they are bringing violence to peaceful protest,” Wally wrote.

She assured followers that her mother received immediate medical attention and even returned to protest the following day. Responding to critics who questioned her mother’s presence at the rally, Wally replied with humor:

“A lot of people asking me, why is a 70-year-old woman (my mother) at a protest? Fwiw a lot of you are new here and don’t know I have an absurdly hot mom, she has abs, does a ton of salsa, it’s like a whole thing. I told her people thought she was too old to protest and she said, ‘I boutta be out here getting sooo many more smooches than them even with a little chunk of head missing.’”

She wants to be a part of something so badly. So much of my life was overcompensating romantically – not even successfully. I just wanted to be loved.”
