On February 28, 2022, four days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Medvedchuk escaped from the household and disappeared. He was fired from his job as co-director of the Opposition Platform For Life on March 8, 2022. Medvedchuk was captured by Ukrainian authorities on April 12, 2022.
