Called ‘Web of Lies,’ Season 2 Episode 2 of Investigation Discovery’s ‘Thought Processes and Murders: Cracking the Case’ chronicles the astonishing murder of West Virginia CFO Tod McQuaid in 1990. At the time in which the strange subtleties of his murder emerged. the police, baffled them as to why anyone would have designated a conventional person as Tod. What ensued was a long and winding examination that led them to their worker Tammy Wilson. If you’re thinking about the subtleties of this horrible case, we’ve got you covered. We should start!
How did Tod McQuaid die? Tod McQuaid, 35, owned a successful security officer organization called TEMAC Inc. in Lewisburg, West Virginia. He had two young girls named Elizabeth and Heather with his ex Rose. In addition, he was well liked locally and had a great relationship with his parents, Roger and Janet McQuaid.
On October 15, 1990, West Virginia State Trooper Bruce Sloan received a call at 8:40 p.m. from Harry Joe Johnson, a representative of TEMAC Inc. He announced that his boss Tod McQuaid had called the workplace and reported everyone who had shot on the mountain behind Meadow Bridge. On his way to the TEMAC office he discovered that Tammy, the Operations Manager, had received the call. He further stated that Tod had gone to Meadow Bridge to serve a warrant for his former girlfriend, Edie Grimes, for misdemeanor and robbery.
Likewise, Tammy shared that she went looking for Edie on October 10, 1990 and that the last option could have shot her. However, on October 23, 1990, the police received a call from Roger Cline, a worker at Tod’s, who admitted that he had shot him to death. Then, at that point, he led police to Tod’s body in Belmont County, Ohio. The body was found wrapped in a blanket, with a single shot from a type 40 weapon in the back of the head. Just as the police believed that the culprit had been found, they found something that directed the investigation.
Who killed Todd McQuaid? Tammy Wilson had pointed the police at Edie, but after a final cross-examination, it was discovered that she had not seen Tod the day he was shot. Also, the police discovered that Tammy and Tod were boyfriends who had been together for a long time, and he had also made her a colleague at another firm that she intended to start. This made her suspicious of the situation, but she still did not give any hint of contribution. Every time Roger turned himself in for the homicide, she expressed that she had inadvertently shot Tod during an actual fight regarding the execution of his work.
Still, when the clinical analyst reasoned that the termination had occurred from a close proximity distance of 3 feet, the police noted irregularities in Roger’s claim. Additionally, the post-death report stated that the homicide had occurred around October 6, 1990, which was not the date that Tammy and Harry claimed to have called the workplace. Upon cross-examination, Harry discovered that Tod was murdered on the night of October 6, 1990, at Tammy’s home in Ronceverte, West Virginia. She had devised a plan to kill Tod in order to take over the new company and had offered Harry an organization, along with the guarantee of a feeling for Roger.
Later, Tammy added Valium to Tod’s drink when he came to meet her on that disastrous night, and he weakened. Roger then, at that moment, appeared and shot him several times, in which the fourth bullet hit him in the back of the head, killing him. Harry was assigned to sort out the crime location and help hide the body. On the other hand, Tammy told the police another story which portrayed that Tod had allegedly attacked his little girl and when Roger found out about this, he and Harry angrily killed him. This brought the examination to an intersection, as despite the crime scene having several slug marks as Harry claimed, no trace of Valium was found on his body.
A breakthrough occurred in June 1991, when a local pharmacy service claimed that Tammy must have purchased 12 units of Valium around the time of the murder. This allowed for further dissection, which confirmed the presence of the drug in Tod’s body that went unnoticed the initial time due to severe decomposition. From then on, it was finally thought that Harry’s variant of events was the correct one and that Tammy was the driving force behind Tod’s vicious murder. It was also resolved that Roger’s first three shots that missed Tod were fired from a type 45 gun, and then Tammy gave him the type 40 that was used for the homicide.
The triplet then wrapped the body in dumpsters, rugs and tarps, and Roger took it to the back of an organization vehicle to remove it. Meanwhile, Harry and Tammy stayed behind to tidy up the house, and she visited Tod’s lawyer two days after the fact to ensure the new company was held accountable. Surprisingly, it was discovered that Tod had not marked the act that established the organization of him in the organization. Consequently, it was quite certain that she had planned the entire murder to get rid of Tod and win over the organization, pressuring Harry and Roger to become accomplices.
Where could Tammy Wilson be today? In February 1992, Harry was sentenced to nine years in prison without trial after confessing to second-degree murder. Roger was charged with first-degree murder and given life in prison with the possibility of parole after inspectors noted that he had educational problems. Tammy, on the other hand, was doomed to an existence without kindness. Subsequently, she was given a new preliminary hearing as part of a plea agreement and she admitted to first-degree murder, for which she qualified for parole.
However, despite some petitions and hearings beginning around 2004, Tammy has been denied parole by the court numerous times because the conditions of her misconduct are incredibly “negative.” She is slowly being incarcerated at the Lakin Correctional Center in Lakin, Mason County, West Virginia.
