“Taylor Swift was a big Twi-hard,” Weitz said. “Taylor Swift and I had a comparison expert at the time and she said, ‘Taylor should be in this movie, not because of you, but she’s a Twi-hard.’ She’s going to be somebody in the coffee shop, or the burger joint or whatever, but she essentially should be in this movie.’”

Weitz denied Swift’s request, saying, “By the time Taylor Swift walks around the screen, for almost five minutes, no one is going to be prepared to deal with anything.” Regardless, sticking to his decision, Weitz gave in: “I kick myself for that, too.”

“I was like, ‘My God, I could have been investing energy with Taylor Swift or maybe we could have been friends.’ I feel like it cost me the opportunity to invest time with Taylor Swift,” she said. “… Be that as it may, sometimes you make decisions thinking, ‘This is the best part of the movie.'”

As for how Swift responded to passing up an assignment on the film, Weitz surmised, “Lately I should have been like, ‘Who’s this jerk?'” ET caught up with Greene in March, uncovering his motivations for starting his computerized replay broadcast.

“For the most part, I say our fans are the crème de la crème, and they’re amazing, and they’re loyal, and I have a huge appreciation for that,” he said. “This was an important part of our lives, it was an important part of the lives of the fans, so the end result was similar. I accept that we are so far along at this point that it becomes much more fun to talk.
