Daryl Campbell, known as Taxstone, is a former rapper and currently a television and Twitter personality. The Brooklyn-born artist was captured in May 2016 taking photos in Irving Square. Campbell’s DNA was found on the 9mm pistol used in the shooting, according to court documents.

He is widely recognized for his Duty Season webcast at the Loud Speakers Organization and his dynamic presence on Twitter. Campbell was recently recognized as a member of the Bloods gang, however he has since disowned any relationship with them.

The Brooklyn-born artist was caught in connection with the May 2016 shooting in Irving Square, where Troy Ave guardian Ronald McPhatter was killed and Troy Ave wounded. He was charged with murder, attempted murder, assault and possession of weapons.

According to court documents, Campbell’s DNA was found on the 9mm pistol used in the shooting.

During Troy Ave’s deposition in Campbell’s prelim, he described fighting with Campbell over the firearm and being shot in both legs before finally obtaining the gun himself. Troy Ave claimed that then, at that moment, he had his sights on Campbell, but the weapon misfired, and then he found his protector lying on the ground, fatally wounded.

Campbell had at first denied any contribution to the shooting and guaranteed that he had been set up. However, he was eventually charged and prosecuted for his alleged participation in the event.

As of around 2021, Campbell remains incarcerated pending preliminary trial. All charges against Troy Ave, including attempted murder and weapons possession charges, were eventually dropped. According to Troy Ave’s legal counsel, he obtained a plea deal for a one-year sentence in exchange for his testimony at Campbell’s preliminary hearing.
