Friends and family of a 12-year-old girl who tragically died while swimming off Bournemouth beach have paid tribute to her. She was airlifted to hospital in critical condition before dying shortly after.
A 17-year-old also died after 10 youngsters struggled in the water with huge waves believed to have been caused by a passing boat. Sunnah was said to be a popular student and was looking forward to a bright future, The Sun reported.

A friend said: ‘Everyone will miss her, she was very popular and her death will leave a void that will be impossible to fill.’ ‘She had a lot more to look forward to. She was an angel.
A family member said: ‘She was an absolute force of nature, loved by all and loved by many. She will be greatly missed by her parents, siblings, and friends. Over 200 people attended Sunnah’s funeral at the Central Mosque in High Wycombe on Saturday.
Mohammed Rafiq, 65, a Wycombe Mosque and Islamic Mission trustee, said: “What happened is tragic for the family. They are very hard-working and well-respected here, this is a very close community. “There were hundreds of people who came to the funeral, the queue was overflowing.”

Two eyewitnesses at the scene of the tragedy described how the attending paramedics assessed which people required urgent treatment. Iona Hunter, 14, and Kaiden Andre, 15, were swimming in the water when they saw a man and woman in distress, The Times reported.
One said: ‘[The lifeguard] asked if we were sure he was drowning because there were people actually drowning.’ Ross Hunter, Iona’s father and a former lifeguard who had taught her lifesaving skills, said he was immensely proud of her daughter.
He said: ‘I am very proud of her. I think it’s very dangerous what she did, but that being said, she’s a very good swimmer and I think it’s a testament to who she is. “No one knows how they would react in that situation, but she was ruled by her heart.”
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the Bournemouth beach tragedy, and has since been released under investigation.
