Following her matriculation, Sung enrolled at Ohio State University, studying for three years before quitting to focus on her career.

While still a student at University, Sung visited a local night club where she signed up for a modeling pageant. Being one of only a few South Koreans, she soon attracted attention to herself, and was immediately booked for future modeling gigs. Just a few months later, she was asked to pose for Playboy, so consequently graced the pages of the popular magazine. She then focused fully on her career, and left her studies, however, it wasn’t all easy for her, as her short stature jeopardized her future as a model.

Luckily, during one of her trips from Los Angeles to New York she was once again asked to pose for Playboy – during the ‘90s, Sung eventually made a total of 12 appearances, which made her a star model, including being the first Asian model to grace the cover of Playboy. This led to doing commercials for numerous high-profile brands, such as Acer Computers, Miller Beer, Maxwell House, Chrysler, and numerous others, but she also made a name for herself as an actress.

She made her acting debut in 1997, with a minor role in the film “Midnight Blue”, starring Dean Stockwell and Damian Chapa. She continued with support roles, and then in 1998 was chosen for the part of Kiri in the TV action fantasy series “Mortal Kombat: Conquest” (1998-1999), and continued with roles in such films as “Making Contact” (1999), “Chain of Command” and “Nurse Betty”, both in 2000.

Continual Success

Sung Hi Lee remained active in the entertainment world until the late 2000s, and secured several more popular roles.

For instance, she was Jackie in the film “That Summer in LA” in 2000, then she guest-starred in the TV action-comedy series “V.I.P.” (2001), while in 2004 she portrayed Ferrari in the film “The Girl Next Door”. The following year she was Sophie in four episodes of the highly-acclaimed soap opera “Days of Our Lives”, and in 2007 she guest-starred in the TV series “Lost”.

She appeared in the crime-drama film “Crossing Over” (2009), starring Harrison Ford, Ashley Judd, and Ray Liotta, and starred in the action thriller film “The Art of War III: Retribution” (2009), before her career ended.
