Kylie Jenner posts video of daughter Stormi at festival before deadly melee
She joined her father Travis Scott earlier in the week at a groundbreaking ceremony for an elementary school garden in Houston. And Kylie Jenner’s daughter, Stormi Webster, got a chance to see her father perform in front of a huge crowd on Friday when he attended her Astroworld festival in Texas City. Even while she was enjoying superstar treatment, various fans throughout the festival were allegedly seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Kylie shared some short videos and photos from the festival, including a special trailer with Stormi’s name taped to the door. The three-year-old joined her mother in the crowd in another video showing Travis’s high-energy performance, complete with incredible pyrotechnics.
As she warmed up the crowd in a single clip, blasts of fire shot high into the air. The scene had to be incredibly loud, but luckily Stormi was wearing large headphones for hearing protection. Kylie held the back of her head as she watched the show and captioned it with a goat emoji and a brown heart. Travis performed in front of a circular opening on a stage shaped like a mountainous landscape.
The view was in part a facade made of video screens, and the craggy rocks were replaced by other images in later clips. Travis was seen rapping on a raised platform in another video. The top of the mountain erupted in fireworks later in the show. Stormi has been accompanying her father since she accompanied him and his aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother when Travis dedicated a garden for students at Young Elementary School that was partially funded by his Cactus Jack Foundation.
He appeared to be getting the VIP treatment over the weekend at Astroworld, although several attendees weren’t so lucky. The Houston Fire Department told ABC 13 earlier in the day that CPR was performed on at least two people at the festival. Dozens of ambulances and EMTs were seen carrying injured assistants, and posts on social media showed several people receiving CPR, while others appeared to be bleeding profusely.
KHOU reporter Zack Tawatari tweeted that ‘several people’ had been transported to the hospital from the festival site. It is not clear how serious the injuries are or what caused them, but the official said they were classifying the area as a ‘level 2’ incident due to the number of calls received. Astroworld experienced a dangerous stampede earlier in the day when the gates to the area first opened, although the injuries seen later on Friday appeared unrelated.
The destruction did not appear to affect Kendall Jenner, who was seen making her rounds earlier in the day to support Sister Kylie’s boyfriend Travis. The 26-year-old model shared VIP snapshots of the rapper’s star-studded festival, which featured performances by artists like SZA and hitmaker Lil Baby.
The day before, her Kendall had participated in the rapper’s Cactus Jack charity softball game, where she was hailed as the ‘MVP’ as she displayed her athletic prowess. Kendall posted a duo of snapshots showing her fantastic physique from behind the scenes at NRG Park. Her look for the day included a long-sleeved plaid mesh blouse that she draped under a jade mini dress.
The Vogue favorite accentuated her statuesque figure with black heeled boots and kept her cool with sunglasses, while she held a drink at a food stand. In a second snap, she smiled softly as she walked into the park and captioned the series ‘Will you be my mountain?’ Her caption seemed to be a reference to Travis’ lead performance at the event that reads “Travis Scott Live at Utopia Mountain”.
Naturally, Kylie was also in attendance and shared a snapshot of a personalized starwagon with the name ‘Stormi’. Scott’s Astroworld Festival is a two-day event that, in addition to music, includes carnival rides and games. The lineup for November 5 includes Master P, Toro Y Moi, Lil Baby and SZA, on the Thrills stage, while Scott will close the festival on the Chills stage.
SZA stood out from the group when he took the stage in a pair of white-fringed jackets that had cutouts on the upper thighs. The 31-year-old singer paired her pants with a long-sleeved white crop top. Her fiery red tresses were curled as she confidently sang the lyrics of her biggest hits to the roaring crowd. Acts like BIA, Earth Wind & Fire, Tame Impala, Sheck Wes, 21 Savage and Young Thug are scheduled for November 6.
An ABC News reporter from the local Houston affiliate, Mycah Hatfield, had reported via Twitter that chaos ensued on the first day of the festival as soon as the doors opened at 2 p.m. A stampede broke through the doors. Hundreds of people destroyed the VIP security entrance, bypassing the checkpoint. People were trampled. Some were detained, ” he wrote about the scene at NRG Park. As the festival takes place amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a negative COVID-19 test result or full vaccination test is required to enter.
