Former WWE star Stan Lane has taken a second DNA test to prove he is not the father of Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert, once again squashing claims made by the Republican politician’s mother. Lane and Boebert agreed last month to take a new DNA test, which showed the lawmaker is not his daughter despite his mother, Shawn Roberts Bentz, insisting otherwise.
“I can confirm that Stan Lane is not my biological father. Personally, I have never publicly claimed that he was my father, but certainly that allegation exists,” Boebert told The Daily Beast, which reviewed the test results.
Although a previous court-ordered paternity test confirmed that Lane, 69, was not related to Boebert, her mother still had doubts after learning that the lab worker who took Lane’s blood sample was convicted of accepting a bribe to change vials in a separate case.

The allegations stem from a brief fling Bentz and Lane had in the mid-1980s, according to Lane. The two met while Lane was working for Championship Wrestling and living in Florida. Shortly after Boebert’s birth, his mother sought support from Lane, who “received a tip that a woman with whom I had a brief affair was accusing me of fathering her child,” Lane said in a statement to the wrestling site. “We went through the legal system and completed a court-ordered paternity test,” she added. “It was declared that I was not the father and the case was dismissed.” However, more than two decades later, Bentz learned that the phlebotomist who had taken Lane’s blood work was convicted of switching vials in a separate case, and asked the courts to investigate further.
Lane then agreed to a second DNA paternity test, which concluded that he had a “0.0% chance of being the biological father,” he said. Lane issued a statement saying he welcomed the end of the “stressful” ordeal.
“This situation and the numerous false claims against me over the years have been stressful on me and my family,” he said. “I feel that my good reputation has been tarnished considerably. I and other close members of my inner circle have also been dragged into this.”

Boebert said that he accepted the results of the new paternity test. “I was a bit like you, that’s all, OK!” Boebert told the Daily Beast. “He has been unfairly attacked and he doesn’t deserve it.”
Boebert said he enjoyed getting to know Lane and his wife and that “we all look forward to an ongoing relationship over the years.” Meanwhile, Lane said that even though he’s been in the entertainment industry for 30 years, “it’s my wish to step back and enjoy my retirement with my wife.”
She still wished Boebert well, adding: “If she continues to search for her biological father, I hope she finds the answers she’s been looking for.”
