This is the shocking moment when a baby appears to be drinking from a bottle of wine. The baby’s mother and her friend were now saved from jail, because there is no evidence that the baby actually drank alcohol. The little girl throws her head back as she drinks before she is shown crying.
It comes as the mother and her friend turned up this week on the dock in connection with the incident in Scotland. The defendant, who cannot be identified, admitted to having behaved in a threatening or abusive manner when creating the video.
The child protection charges were dropped. And a judge said he could not jail the couple, as there is no evidence that the liquid in the bottle was alcoholic. Sheriff Alistair Noble told the defendants: “It is clear that you have pleaded guilty to a charge that is very different from the charge you originally faced.
“Each of you pleaded guilty to one count of threatening and abusive behavior that essentially involves the creation of a video that appears to show the child drinking alcohol.
“There is no suggestion that, in fact, it was the alcohol they gave him to drink.” The sheriff said the couple had admitted to leaving members of the public “concerned and distressed by what they saw.” That is the nature of the charge that he has pleaded guilty to,” he said.
And he said that “custody was not justified” for the crime. The baby’s 26-year-old mother was sentenced to 21 months of supervision under a community reimbursement order. His 24-year-old friend, who the court heard allegedly tried to give the boy the drink, was sentenced to 12 months of supervision. The little boy now lives with a relative, it was heard.
