Myrtle Beach police opened an investigation into the disappearance of Sheridan Wahl, 21, on Sunday. “Our investigation revealed that we had no jurisdiction in this matter, so the case was subsequently transferred to the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED),” the department said in a Facebook post-Tuesday.
Wahl, believed to be from Florida, was in Myrtle Beach to visit his father, but never showed up at his home. According to a police report, Wahl was allegedly on FaceTime with his mother around 1 p.m. while trying to rent a scooter at Rent Me Superstore in the 300 block of South Ocean Boulevard. He was denied service for not wearing shoes, according to the report, and told his mother that he was returning home.

Authorities are searching for a missing person who was last seen in Myrtle Beach. Sheridan Wahl, 21, was reported missing Sunday, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department. According to a police report, Wahl went to Myrtle Beach to visit a family member. He FaceTimeed a family member around 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of South Ocean Boulevard. He tried to rent a scooter, but it was refused because he was not wearing shoes, so he said he was going home.
The family member told him to stay overnight so he would not have to make the long drive home and he has not been heard from since. A family member said Wahl could return to Tampa, Florida. News13 is working to get more information.

An autopsy was performed, but the Florence County Medical Examiner said the results were still “pending further post-mortem studies,” the article said. Wahl FaceTimed her mother around 1 p.m. September 19 near the beach in Myrtle Beach and she said she planned to return to her home in Tampa.
