Sarah Dash was an American singer and actress. She first appeared on the music scene as a member of Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles. Dash was later a member of Labelle and worked as a singer, session musician, and sideman for The Rolling Stones, and Keith Richards.
Originally from Trenton, Dash was a co-founder of Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles, which opened for The Rolling Stones in the 1960s. With LaBelle, Dash went on to form the pioneering R & B / rock group LaBelle, which was more musically and sartorially adventurous than its predecessor.
The group reached its peak in the mid-1970s with the song “Miss jam, ”Which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song rose to the top of the charts again when it was re-recorded by Christina Aguilera, Mýa, Pink and rapper Lil ‘Kim for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack.
After working with The Stones, Dash also acted in The Beatles’ Sergeant. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1978.
In 1995, Dash reunited with LaBelle for “Turn It Out” at the To Wong Foo, Thanks for everything! Julie Newmar soundtrack. That song made it to number one on the dance chart.

Powerful R&B singer and actress Sarah Dash he has died at age 76, according to Trenton, NJ Mayor Reed Gusciora.
“Our resident legend and first music ambassador for Trenton, Sarah passed away,” Gusciora wrote on Facebook today. Grammy winner LaBelle posted a tribute to her friend and collaborator on Twitter, saying they sang together as recently as last weekend.
“We were on stage together on Saturday and it was such a powerful and special moment,” LaBelle wrote. “Sarah Dash was an incredibly talented, beautiful and loving soul who blessed my life and the lives of many others in more ways than I can say. And I could always count on her to back me up! That’s what Sarah was … a loyal friend and a voice for those who didn’t. ”
LaBelle ended by saying, “I am heartbroken … Rest in power, my dear sister.”
