A disturbed Minnesota man with a fiery past fatally wounded his better half while reading a family book of scripture at a general’s home recently, authorities said. Robert Castillo, 40, of St. Paul was charged with the second-degree murder of his better half, Corinna Woodhull, 41, after allegedly cutting her more than once in a St. Paul home around 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Ramsey District Attorney’s Office.

When they arrived at the house, they found Woodhull with severe cuts to the middle, chest and arms and Castillo pinned to the ground by a group of people, detailed CBS News Minnesota. Woodhull, a mother of five children, was taken to the Local Clinic where she was pronounced dead.

Castillo’s sister informed the specialists that she has a book of scriptures that is learned at home on Tuesday nights for family members. Woodhull and Castillo appeared inconspicuously and sat close to each other on a loveseat, according to a criminal objection received by the media source.

At one point during the meeting, Castillo murmured something in Woodhull’s ear and then allegedly cut up his partner more than once, according to the complaints.

Family members jumped in and manipulated and incapacitated Castillo. An observer told police that if they hadn’t moved the blade away from him, they think he would have cut more people.

Woodhull’s death was formally controlled as a murder by the Ramsey Province Clinical Inspector’s Office, CBS Minnesota reported.

After his capture, Castillo told specialists that he and Woodhull had been legally married for several years and were respectively living in Brilliant Valley recently. He refused to say why the couple were not currently living together and later asked his lawyer, according to the objection.

Castillo’s brother, who was also at the Good Books studio during the outage, told police that Woodhull and his brother had had marital problems.

At the time of the murder, Castillo had an active warrant for his arrest for failing to appear for a pretrial hearing on charges of fourth-degree assault in the neighboring Washington area, police said in the complaints. In that episode, he allegedly attacked a jail guard while he was secured.

Castillo has eight prior felony convictions, including first degree assault, second degree assault, possession of a weapon by an ineligible individual and second degree robbery. The second-degree assault conviction was for hitting his son’s mother with a sledgehammer, injuring her, according to the media source.
