Rajendra Gupta was born on October 17, 1947 in Panipat, Haryana. He finished his graduation from Kurukshetra University and the National School of Drama, Delhi. His father had a wool materials business, but Gupta needed to make a career in acting. Gupta began his career with the film Jawalaa Dahej Ki in 1982.
