Prince Azim of Brunei was the son of the Sultan of Brunei and fourth in line to the country’s throne. He was a film producer, who co-founded Daryl Prince Productions. The production company had a heavy hand in many acclaimed movies such as Dark Places starring Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, and Chloe Grace Moretz, You’re Not You with Hilary Swank and Emmy Rossum, The Happy Prince starring Colin Firth, and many more.
Prince Azim was educated at the International School Brunei, Raffles Institution in Singapore, and Oxford Brookes University in the U.K. He was sent to attend an officer training course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2008. However, he dropped out after one week, according to The Times.
In 2009, he designed unis*ex weekend bags for MCM. The proceeds went to the Make A Wish Foundation UK, a charity in which he is one of the patrons.

Prince Azim of Brunei died on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at the age of 38, according to a press statement from His Majesty’s Office. Palace officials confirmed Prince Azim’s death in the following statement: “With the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, hereby announces to the people and residents of Brunei Darussalam, with the fate of Allah the Almighty and with deepest sorrow, that His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim has passed away today, Saturday, 7 Rabiulawal 1442 Hijrah, corresponding to October 24 2020 at 10.08am.

“The late Almarhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim will be laid to rest at the Royal Mausoleum in the capital today after the Asar Prayers. People and residents of Brunei Darussalam are hereby required to hoist the national flag at half-mast today and begin a period of seven-day mourning.”
On behalf of the Malaysian government, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said in a statement shared on Facebook: “Innalillahiwainna ilaihirojiun. On behalf of the Government of Malaysia, I respectfully and solemnly wish to express my condolences to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of Brunei Darussalam on the death of his son, His Majesty Pengiran Muda Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim.
“Malaysians are also saddened by the passing of the deceased and pray for His Majesty and all the Royal family and the people of Brunei to persevere in facing this sad moment.
“May Allah SWT shower His blessings on the soul of the deceased and place him among the believers and pious deeds. Al Fatihah.”
