Phil Hernon was a pro bodybuilder who died after a “recent sudden decline,” according to his partner and an Instagram post from Muscular Development. The Muscle Development page posted a tribute to Hernon on his page, writing: “We are saddened to report the passing of 1995 United States Champion Phil Hernon. Our condolences to all who knew and loved him ”.
His partner Pamela Guererri wrote a lengthy tribute to Hernon on Facebook confirming his death.
“It is with deep sadness that I have to make this post. With heavy heart, I let you all know that Phil passed away peacefully last night after a recent sudden decline, ”Guererri wrote. “I want to thank each and every one of you who have reached out over the last few years to see how he is doing and all the prayers and love that you have sent him. His strength has truly been an inspiration to many and I have always been so happy for him with the outpouring of love and support that he has always received from all of you. I had started to get it right, so this is very unexpected. God bless you, Phil, you are very loved and we will miss you very much. ”
The comment thread was filled with praise for Hernon, including: “May God rest his soul, my condolences to his family. He was a true champion! ”
The posts did not provide a cause of death for Hernon.
Hernon had been on dialysis, reports say
According to Generation IronHernon previously posted, but later deleted comments on Instagram, indicating he was on dialysis. According to Evolution of Bodybuilding, Hernon “won the 1995 NPC USA Championship,” the pinnacle of his career. He wrote about his anemia on Facebook in 2018. He posted photos of hospital beds over the years, including leg problems.
People offered tributes in the comment thread of the Instagram post. “They’re going down like a fly’s bodybuilding is supposed to be about health,” wrote Robby Robinson, who is also a bodybuilder. “Condolences to his family. Very sad.” These are some of the other comments in that thread:

Hernon’s Facebook page was also filled with tributes
On Facebook, Hernon described himself as “a good person who loves to help people.” He posted bodybuilding and family photos. His profile picture was updated 22 hours earlier. It is also full of tributes.
“Phil passed away last night,” one man told other comment writers who responded to the profile makeover. People wrote in the thread that he had ongoing health problems. “I’m so sorry. RIP Phil. Thank you for always being a class act for me,” someone else wrote. His most recent visible post dates from March when he posted a fundraiser at St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
