Peter began his vocation as an accountant. Before entering horse racing in 1988, when a racer was appointed chief executive of the NSW Harness Racing Club, he had worked in mining and neighborhood organisations.

The queen told Peter that she went and petted the champion and the pony felt like silk. She had a pure love for racehorses after that day. Although her father was certainly not a huge fan of horse racing, her mother and her grandfather, King George V, have always been passionate devotees.
