Patrick Demarchelier, the French photographer who took probably the most remarkable photos of the late Princess Diana, has died at the age of 78. The photo artist’s agents released her passing on her official Instagram profile, stating that she died on March 31. Demarchelier’s work shaped style for a long time. Over time, he has worked with a wide range of models, entertainers and VIPs, including Princess Diana.
In 1989, the Princess of Wales called him after seeing one of his photos on the cover of Vogue. Demarchelier was made an Officier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Literature) by French Minister of Culture Christine Albanel in 2007 in recognition of his efforts. He was honored with a review show at Le Petit Palais in Paris in 2008. In 2011, he presented Dior Couture Patrick Demarchelier, a variety of his photographs of Dior Couture models in haute couture outfits going back to 1947.
