Paoli started her profession with Bengali TV series Jibon Niye Khela in 2003. She has appeared in almost no television serials: Sonar Harin, Scandal, Jaya, Mahanayak and then some.
Paoli made her introduction in 2020 in Hoichoi’s web series with Kaali as lead female entertainer. After that, she was found in The Great Indian Murder and Raat Baaki Hai as Vasuki.
Paoli made her introduction in 2006 with the Bengali film Agnipariksha as a supporting entertainer. She then appeared in the film Tulkalam where she shared the screen space with Mithun Chakraborty and Rachana Banerjee.
She got recognition for her work from Madhabilata in the movie Kaalbela. The film was based on the novel by Samaresh Majumdar. She received worldwide recognition for her role in the 2011 Bengali film Chatrak.

Paoli made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with Hate Story. She appeared in films Ankur Arora Murder Case, Gang of Ghosts, Yaara Silly and Bulbbul. She has worked in a Konkani film Baga Beach in 2012. Paoli Dam argued with Arjun Dev, a money manager from Guwahati, Assam, on December 4, 2017.
Paoli Dam was born and raised in Kolkata in a Bengali family. She has also acted as a playback vocalist for the film Kaalbela in 2009.
