The Chicks paid respect to Olivia Newton-John during her visit to Washington on Saturday night. Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer, newly known as the Dixie Chicks, took a break from their set to perform “Unfortunately Devoted to You,” the free song made famous by the late singer in the melodic film Grease.
“We lost a general love last week, Olivia Newton-John,” said Maines, who asked the meeting to call. “I accepted that I was Olivia Newton-John from 4 to 12, and later I wished I was Olivia Newton-John. So we’re working on soundcheck today to a little tune by Olivia Newton-John.”
Also, the meeting played, with the group recounting the song, with the same words heard near Maines, the variant of the powerful devotional song. Maines completed the actual performance with another shout out to Newto-John as the gathering continued to cheer and approve.
Newton-John’s partner, John Easterling, learned of her passing last Monday in an official acknowledgment shared on Instagram, posting a close-up photo of the artist: “Lady Olivia Newton-John (73) died serenely at her ranch in Southern California. recently, surrounded by friends and family”.
“Did you know John Travolta was here tonight?”

“Olivia has been a picture of wins and guesses for over 30 years, crediting her journey to a chest infection,” the certificate continued. “Her inspiration for patching and her initial experience with plant drugs came from the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant prescription and dangerous development. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made in her memory to @onjfoundation.”
Newton-John’s somewhat long battle with damaging development began in 1992 when she opened up to the world about her major end of breast disease. She went on to help the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Center in Melbourne, Australia, and had been a wild patron for treatment and evaluation of life-threatening development.
