Mitchell E. Adelson, who died in September 2005 from a drug overdose, was best known for being the son of Sheldon Adelson, a multibillionaire casino mogul, and Republican Party megadonor. It is being reported Sheldon Adelson has died on January 12th, 2021 from complications related to treatment he was receiving for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, according to Las Vegas Sands, the casino and resort company Adelson owned.
The business mogul adopted his three children with his first wife, Sandra. They include Mitchell (deceased), Gary, and Shelley.

He was the son of Adelson and his wife, Miriam Adelson, an Israeli American political donor. Educated as a physician who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Donald Trump in 2018.
Mitchell was adopted as a small child by his father and his first wife, Sandra with whom he amassed much of his fortune during the 1970s passed away following a battle with the illness. The couple divorced in 1988.
He had a strained relationship with his Family
Sheldon’s wife Miriam said in an interview with Haaretz, that his son Mitchell had used heroin and cocaine from a young age. “There was a period when he lived without drugs, and there were periods when he lived with the drug substitute, methadone,” she added. He filed a lawsuit against his father in the months before his death but the case was thrown out of court.

Mitchel Adelson was survived by his two siblings, Shelley and Gary. Gary Adelson reportedly had a strained relationship with his family due to his drug addiction. In 2008, Sheldon’s wife Miriam also told Israeli newspaper Haaretz that Gary suffered from drug addiction issues similar to those that killed his brother. “We don’t know. He lives his life and is not in touch with us. As far as I know, he is still addicted,” she added.
Unlike her brothers, Adelson’s daughter Shelley has not been hurt by the monster of addiction and enjoys a healthy relationship with her father.
When asked about the relationship by the pair in 2008, Adelson’s wife Miriam said that relations were good between them. “Sheldon has a daughter, who is perfectly all right, and the relations between them are exceptional,” she said.
Shelley married Richard Heller, a businessman who was later awarded a position as president of Sands Expo & Convention Center. The couple divorced but Heller remained in the role at least until the early 2000s.

Sheldon Adelson Cause of Death
Adelson died on January 12, 2021, at the age of 87. The Las Vegas Sands confirmed in a press release that he had died the previous day “from complications related to treatment for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma”.
Adelson, whose net worth was estimated by Forbes to be around $33 billion, had been among the most-watched donors supporting President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection effort.

In 2001, Adelson was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, which restricts his ability to stand and walk. On February 28, 2019, Las Vegas Sands announced that Adelson was receiving treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The news was disclosed after a Sands attorney claimed Adelson was too weak to sit for a deposition in a court case involving Richard Suen. Sands spokesman Ron Reese said the side effects of Adelson’s medical treatment had “restricted his availability to travel or keep regular office hours” but had not “prevented him from fulfilling his duties as chairman and CEO” of Las Vegas Sands.
