Arrested Sexually Abusing Woman and Charges
Peekskill Police Officer Michael Agovino was charged Saturday with first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree stalking and second-degree burglary, according to The Journal News/lohud.com, which cited the Westchester DA’s Office.
The officer, a resident of Orangetown in Rockland County, was jailed on $50,000 bail pending a court appearance Tuesday, the news outlet reported, adding that he has been placed on administrative leave.

Agovino met the woman on July 9, 2019, when he investigated a theft she “allegedly perpetrated” — and accused her of stealing money and demanding access to her home, according to NBC 4, which cited the criminal complaint.
The complaint says, He allegedly entered her home and sexually assaulted her, then went back several more times until Aug. 1 and threatened to arrest her as he continued to sexually abuse her.
The news station reported, On Jan. 22, an audio recording captured the suspect after he returned to the woman’s apartment for more “unwanted sexual contact,” according to the DA’s office.
According to NBC 4, There was no evidence the woman had committed any crimes, DA Anthony Scarpino said.
On Sunday, the Peekskill Police Department said on Facebook that “Police Officer Michael Agovino has been arrested and charged with several crimes alleged to have occurred while he was on duty.
