Melissa Rios Wiki – Biography
Melissa Rios is the baby mama of Dwight Howard, the Los Angeles Lakers center. Rios was a real estate agent and epilepsy advocate. She graduated from Squaw Valley Academy and went on with her education at the University of Nevada. She became a licensed Realtor in California and was studying financing.
Although Howard has spent the NBA’s hiatus dealing with the difficult task of explaining Melissa Rios’ death to their son, he is also grateful for the chance to heal from the loss without the daily grind of the NBA schedule.

Mellisa Amber Rios was the daughter of Edelmira Vega Rios (Mira) and Cuauhtemoc Rios (Temo). She had three siblings, sister Crystal Rios Duenas, Karen Rios, and Janel Blanco.

Cause of Death
She died on March 27, 2020, at her home in Calabasas, California. The cause of death was an epileptic seizure. Howard said on a video conference call from his offseason home in Georgia, “I’ve had some things happen in my personal life that has been difficult to really handle,” Howard said on a video conference call. “My son’s mom, she had passed away a month and a half ago and it’s extremely difficult for me to try to understand how to talk to my son, who’s 6 years old, just about the whole situation.”
“Every moment counts,” Howard said. “Be grateful for every situation that you have, just be grateful for life. I think we also take for granted the little things and just spending time with people and stuff like that. And you know after having all these situations, it’s like, reconfirming to me just stay in the moment. Always be grateful. Always be grateful for everything you have, every little thing that happens.”

Dwight Howard has five Children: Braylon Howard with Royce Reed, was born in 2007, Trey with Christine Vest, was born in 2013, David with Melissa Amber Rios, Jade with Hope Alexa, and Layla with Tiffany Render.
According to Melissa Rios’s obituary on Tribute Archive, “She was ambitious and had a lot of goals set. She was an amazing artist and Loved to workout. Melissa had a great sense of humor and a huge loving heart! She was there for her friends and family at any time of the day or night. Providing knowledge, encouragement, love, an open ear without ever being judgmental.” She was buried on April 13, 2020, at 1 pm at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery 2700 N Virginia St Reno, NV.
