The entrepreneurs present their unique business plans to the Sharks, trying to convince them to invest in their idea. The Sharks, who are among some of the world’s leading venture capitalists, decide whether or not to invest in an idea based on several factors. In the upcoming season, prominent tech mogul Nirav Tolia will join the Sharks team alongside Kevin Hart, Peter Jones, Emma Grede, and Daniel Lubetzky.
Nirav Tolia, a top-tier businessman, is best recognized as a co-founder of the hyperlocal social media platform Nextdoor. However, his successful career had suffered a major setback in 2014, when he pleaded guilty to a serious hit-and-run case, in which he injured a woman named Patrice Motley. He served 30 days of community service to avoid jail time and paid a fine of $ 239 for the misdemeanor hit and run. In her personal life, Tolia is married to Megha Trivedi Tolia and shares three children with her.

Tolia, the son of an Indian immigrant couple, attended Stanford University, where he majored in English Literature. He started his career working at Yahoo! Before he got bitten by the entrepreneurial bug. Tolia went on to co-found Epinions, a website that featured user product reviews. He served as CEO and then COO of the company when it was acquired by Shopping.com. The company eventually went public and was later acquired by eBay. Following the success of his first commercial venture, Tolia and his friends founded Nextdoor in 2008. The hyperlocal networking platform is currently available in 11 countries.
However, Tolia decided to resign from the CEO position in July 2018 and took an extended sabbatical in Florence with his wife and his children. He regularly shares photos with his wife and his children on Instagram and appears to be a devoted family man.
It is not clearly known when and where Tolia met his wife Megha, but they are believed to have been married for quite some time. According to her LinkedIn profile, Megha Tolia is currently the vice president of strategy and e-commerce for Method Products, a San Francisco-based company. A graduate of the University of California and Harvard Business School, Megha has had an impressive career path. She has worked with leading firms such as Johnson & Johnson and Neutrogena before joining Method Products.
Speaking about his decision to retire as CEO of Nextdoor, Nirav Tolia once mentioned, “My wife Megha and I reflected on the fact that we had three young children and we both had these high-powered demanding jobs. We realized that a day I blinked and suddenly our kids were going to be teenagers. We both thought, “What if we do something crazy? What if we decide to focus on the most important beginning of our lives, our family? ”
