McClung was rated as a three-star prospect and one of Virginia’s finest high school athletes. Following the 2021 NBA draft, McClung went undrafted but eventually signed with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. He then played for the South Bay Lakers in the G League, where he was voted Rookie of the Year for the 2021-22 season. Last year, McClung made history by becoming the first G-League player to win the Slam Dunk Contest.

According to Marcus, Mac had a competitive attitude from an early age, constantly willing to turn even the most basic activities into a battle. Mac was first intrigued to football and got instruction from his father. However, when he got older, his interests switched to basketball. Marcus was glad when Mac opted to concentrate on basketball, particularly since he had quit football after his freshman year of high school.

Anna McClung, Mac McClung’s older sister, was born on November 9, 1994. She is five years his senior. Anna, like her father, started playing soccer at an early age and eventually became one of the nation’s best  recruiters. In 2013, Top Drawer Soccer listed her as the No. 3 overall recruit and No. 1 attacker.

Anna graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Public Relations. During her collegiate years, she was an active member of the Women’s Soccer Team and earned a spot on the SEC Honor Roll. Anna played for the Florida State University Women’s Soccer Team before coming to Tennessee. Anna now works as an Account Executive at Assured Partners and has a lovely married life with her spouse.
