Donald Trump, former president of the United States, owns Mar A Lago. It is the 24th largest residence in the country and the second largest in Florida. The former president prefers to refer to his home as the “Winter White House.”
On August 8, 2022, FBI investigators carried out surprise search warrants at Trump’s property. What had happened inside the mansion? What happened at Mar A Lago on Monday night?
As part of an investigation into the handling of particularly sensitive presidential documents, the FBI looked at Mar A Lago. The search appears to be primarily focused on artifacts Trump stole from the White House.
According to CNN, the unusual decision to search the property was made due to Trump’s ongoing legal troubles on several fronts. The documents the National Archives were looking for were relevant to the search.
Justice Department representatives have not yet expressed a desire to comment on any aspect of the executed search warrant at Mar-a-Lago.
The US National Archives found secret documents at Mar-a-Lago in February 2022. They had reported the incident to the US Department of Justice. The former president acknowledged that agents were on his property while he was inside Trump Tower. They even broke into my safe, he claimed.
“My magnificent home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is now besieged, searched, and occupied by a large gathering of federal officials,” Trump said in a statement. As a result, Trump said the search was “neither necessary nor appropriate” and referred to it as an “attack.”
The former president assured in his statement that the FBI’s action was supported by Democrats who “desperately” do not want him to seek re-election in 2024.
Crowds of Trump fans have begun arriving at Mar-a-Lago in the meantime. After he claimed that the FBI raided his home in Florida, they are now raising flags in front of the driveway. Forbes estimates that Mar A Lago is currently worth $160 million.
It was bought by Trump in 1985 for about $10 million. The President of the United States reportedly made more than $100 million selling the renowned mansion. In the same time frame, it generated a 12x return. However, the millionaire first had to spend a lot of money to make everything work well.
According to Forbes, Trump spent around $3 million on his opulent furnishings. Additionally, $2 million was paid for 400 feet of pristine beachfront located across the street.
Even then, the house was luxurious. During Florida’s real estate boom of the 1920s, it was built as a winter residence for cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post. The resort’s name, Mar-a-Lago, translates from Spanish to “from the sea to the lake” and alludes to the fact that it stretches the length of Palm Beach from the vast Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway.
