Louise Azemar Engzell Wiki, Biography

Former British number 1 Tim Henman has called on Australian Open officials to “throw out” unruly spectators after some fans were heard screaming during the men’s singles final between Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Referee Louise Azemar Engzell was forced to repeatedly ask the crowd to be quiet during the match, but Henman believes that any rowdy spectators should have been thrown out of Rod Laver Arena.

After a fan was heard continuing to chant during a rally between Djokovic and Tsitsipas, the referee reminded the crowd: “Ladies and gentlemen, please, once again, I know it’s very exciting, but please remain silent during the rally, thank you.”

However, Henman called for stronger action to be taken, saying: “The referee made the request, but I think they should go further, if people repeatedly yell trying to distract the players, they should be sent off.”

And after another fan was heard yelling as Djokovic prepared to serve, the referee issued another reminder. “It’s very upsetting for both players, so shut up, thanks,” he warned.

At the time, commentator Chris Bradnam echoed Henman’s thoughts, stating, “he’s fallen on deaf ears too much in this tournament.” It comes after Djokovic became angry at spectators who booed him during his straight-set win over Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals.

With Djokovic ready to serve, a fan could be heard yelling “send him home Rublev”, prompting a furious reaction from the Serb. “Why don’t you shut up?” he replied.

“Every point, every point.” Djokovic then turned his attention to referee James Keothavong, adding: “You’re not reacting.”

Djokovic also struggled with fans booing him during his fourth-round match against Alex de Minaur, while a group of unruly supporters dressed as ‘Where’s Wally?’ they were knocked out of their second-round match against Enzo Couacaud.

The Serb was not deterred, however, as he defeated Tsitsipas in straight sets to secure his 10th Australian Open title and 22nd Grand Slam singles title, equaling Rafael Nadal.
