Leon Arnold Wiki – Leon Arnold Biography
Leon Arnold was arrested this week and charged with killing his young son, who died last week of apparent child abuse. And it’s not the first time that 36-year-old Leon has faced child abuse charges, the Advocate reported. Baton Rouge police investigated after Arnold’s 3-month-old boy was found unconscious on Aug. 14, when he was the boy’s primary caregiver while his mother worked. The boy was taken to a hospital but later died.
Police said an autopsy found severe bruising on the baby’s lower body and a broken coccyx. The pathologist indicated that these injuries are consistent with being struck or … struck against a hard object,” police wrote in Arnold’s arrest report. “Almost all the ribs in the rib cage had fractures in various stages of healing.”

The autopsy also revealed evidence that the boy had been “violently shaken from side to side” and had blunt force trauma to the head that caused excessive swelling and bleeding in the brain. In addition, doctors said, they found “fairly fresh” marks on his chest and stomach that appeared to be cigarette burns, according to WAFB.
Leon told investigators that he put the boy on his stomach for a nap and was unable to wake him up afterward. He said the boy had spit milk when he went to wake him up from his nap.
The Advocate said Arnold pleaded guilty in 2014 to one count of second-degree cruelty to minors stemming from a 2010 incident that resulted in a broken leg for his one-month-old daughter. Both parents initially told investigators they did not know how the girl had been injured, but Arnold later said that he accidentally dropped the girl when he lifted her from her crib while crying. She said the baby’s head hit her knee and grabbed her leg to prevent her from hitting the ground, according to police reports.

Arnold was sentenced to 10 years in prison with time served credit and was released after serving 40 percent of his sentence for good behavior. He is being held without bond at the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
According to arrest records, when officers initially interviewed Leon Arnold, 36, of Baton Rouge, he said he was the one who put the baby down for a nap and the one who attempted to awake the baby from the nap. Police say Leon also told investigators the baby was laid down on his stomach and that when he went to awake the baby, the child had spit up milk.
Investigators say the child later died and an autopsy was conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 18 and a pathologist determined the manner of the child’s death was a homicide.
The pathologist said the baby’s injuries were consistent with being beaten or the baby’s lower body being struck against a hard object, arrest records say. Officers say they arrested Arnold on Thursday, Aug. 19 on the charge of first-degree murder because the child was in his care when he went unresponsive.
