Gneiting’s husband, Alan, confirmed to USA TODAY that the post was authentic but declined to talk more about his wife’s experience. He said the couple has been advised not to speak publicly about the incident until the investigation is complete and plans to release a statement then.
“Both of us don’t like the spotlight and, you know, we’re kind of reclusive that way,” he said Friday. “She will give a statement to somebody, but it’s going to be once they close that investigation and once she feels a little more comfortable.”
