Kawhi’s career started in 2011 when he was drafted into the NBA by the Indiana Pacers, as the 15th overall pick, however, he was sent to the San Antonio Spurs with the rights to Erazem Lorbek and Davis Bertans, while the Pacers received George Hill.

In his rookie season, he played in 64 games, 39 of which were starts, and averaged 7.9 points with 5.1 rebounds per game. In 2013-2014 the Spurs won the NBA Championship, and he was one of the stars on the team with 16.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. He continued to improve, and had his best season with the Spurs in 2016-2017, when he averaged 25.5 points per game.

The next year was rather turbulent for Kawhi, as he started a feud with Spurs officials, teammates and Greg Popovich himself, and as a result he was traded to the Toronto Raptors for DeMar DeRozan and Jakob Poltl, and also a protected 2019 first-round draft pick.

A career with the Raptors, Recent Move

He remained with the Raptors for only one year, but during his time there became a legend, as he helped the Raptors win their first NBA championship, and had his best season in the NBA, averaging 26.6 points per game, with 7.3 rebounds.

In the playoffs, he became the real team leader with 30.5 points per game and 9.1 rebounds, and was instrumental in defeating the Philadelphia 76ers in the series, as he scored the winning point with the last shot in the game.Despite this success with the Raptors, he decided not to stay in Toronto, and has recently signed a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.
