The daughter of Tony Guilfoyle and his wife Mercedes, Kimberly is of Puerto Rican ancestry from her mother’s side, and Irish from her father, Kimberly spent her early childhood in the Mission District and Westlake, where she went to Mercy High School. On her way to her teenage years, Kimberly lost her mother to leukemia, and during one of the interviews conducted in Kimberly’s later life, she spoke of her with love and respect. That didn’t distract her as Kimberly joined Los Angeles attorneys as a Deputy District Attorney; she was immediately thrown into fire with kidnappers, robbers, arsonists, and sex offenders, but she paved her way and became one of the best attorneys, earning the Prosecutor of the Month award.

Following her quite successful years in Los Angeles, she was rehired by Hallinan and this time she was given the position of an Assistant District Attorney, which she held for the next four years, and in 2002 she came to prominence after successfully prosecuting in the trial against Noel and Knoller for second degree murder.
