Kimberly Goss Wiki – Kimberly Goss Biography
Kimberly Goss is the ex-wife of Alexi Laiho. She is an American singer and keyboardist, best known as frontwoman and co-founder of the Finnish metal band Sinergy.
Goss started her career in music early, debuting as a singer for the underground band Avernus at the age of fifteen. She went on to write and publish her own underground extreme metal fanzine at the age of sixteen, interviewing widely recognized bands such as Emperor, Darkthrone, Mayhem and Bathory, to name a few.
At seventeen, she moved to Norway in order to pursue an offer she received to play keyboards for Norwegian black metal band Ancient. After recording one album with them, they went on tour with Dark Funeral and Bal-Sagoth. Two days after that tour ended, she was also invited to play keyboards and sing backing vocals on Therion’s world tour in support of their Theli album. With Therion, she toured with bands like Amorphis, Sentenced and My Dying Bride as well as playing major European festivals like Dynamo Open Air.
In 1997 she was also asked to join Dimmu Borgir as a session keyboardist where they went on to tour to promote their album, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant. During the tour with In Flames in August 1997, she met guitarist Jesper Strömblad and together they formed the first incarnation of Sinergy. She moved to Sweden in 1998 to rehearse with the first line-up of the band and proceeded to record their debut album, Beware the Heavens.
She then went on to temporarily play keyboards for Children of Bodom during their 1998 European tour while their own keyboardist was occupied with school. Shortly after, she relocated once again and moved to Finland, where together with original band member Alexi Laiho, they reformed Sinergy with Finnish musicians. Over the years Sinergy has teamed up to tour with the likes of Nightwish, Angra, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and Children of Bodom. They’ve also played some of the biggest metal festivals in the world including Wacken Open Air.
Alexi Laiho was a Finnish guitarist, composer, and vocalist. He was best known as the lead guitarist, lead vocalist and founding member of the melodic death metal band Children of Bodom, and was also the guitarist for Sinergy, The Local Band, Kylähullut, and Bodom After Midnight, which formed just prior to his death. Laiho had previously played with Thy Serpent and Impaled Nazarene on occasion, as well as Warmen and Hypocrisy.
They released their debut album, Something Wild, later in 1997, and their reputation grew across successive records, with fourth album Hate Crew Deathroll (2003) becoming the first of six Finnish chart-toppers. Their success then went global, with 2008’s Blooddrunk reaching No 22 in the US and the UK Top 50, a rare achievement for a death metal release. They put out 10 studio albums and two live LPs.
The group disbanded in 2019, playing a final concert in Helsinki in December that year, with Bodom After Midnight forming thereafter. Laiho was also a member of the bands Sinergy and Kylähullut (Finnish for “village idiots”) and formed Finnish supergroup the Local Band in 2013. Earlier in his career, Laiho guested with Impaled Nazarene and Thy Serpent.

Cause of Death
Alexi Laiho, frontman with globally successful Finnish death metal band Children of Bodom, has died aged 41.
His bandmates in his current group, Bodom After Midnight, announced the news, writing on social media: “It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Alexi Laiho. We are absolutely devastated and heartbroken for the sudden loss of our dear friend and band member.”
A press release said he had “suffered from long-term health issues during his last years”. His wife, Kelli Wright-Laiho, said: “Alexi was the most loving and magnificent husband and father. Our hearts are eternally broken.”
Among those paying tribute was Alex Skolnick of Testament, who said Laiho “created new possibilities in extreme metal with technically sophisticated solos that held their own alongside the best in more popularised metal genres”.
A statement on Laiho’s official Facebook page said the musician died in his Helsinki home last week, adding that he suffered from long-term health issues during his last years.
Guitarist Alexi Laiho deceased
One of the most renowned guitarists in the world, Alexi Laiho, has passed away. The musician, most notably known as the front man of Children of Bodom, died in his home in Helsinki, Finland, last week. Laiho had suffered from long-term health issues during his last years.
Alexi Laiho and drummer Jaska Raatikainen founded Children of Bodom in 1993, and the band was one of the most internationally acclaimed metal acts in Finland up until their very last farewell concert in December of 2019. Last year Alexi Laiho put together Bodom After Midnight, who recorded three songs and shot one music video, which will be released later on posthumously.
Besides Children of Bodom, Laiho was known for acts such as Warmen, Sinergy, Kylähullut and The Local Band. Awarded with a Metal Hammer Golden Gods and several other international prizes, the guitarist was also the main star, leading a group of one hundred guitar players at Helsinki Festival in 2015 in “100 Guitars From Hel” – a massive concert piece he composed.
“We are crushed by the sudden passing of our dear friend and band member. Words cannot describe this shock and the profound sadness that we feel”, Daniel Freyberg, Mitja Toivonen and Waltteri Väyrynen from Bodom After Midnight state.
The talented guitarist and musician relished his roles as stepdad in his patchwork family, and as uncle and godfather. Especially during the last years, the important family ties brought a welcomed balance to his life and the active touring. Laiho was particularly close with his big sister, parents and his sister’s daughter.
Laiho’s sister says:
“We are all absolutely shocked and devastated. We ask for privacy and understanding during these hard times. My little brother’s funeral will take place privately.”
Alexi Laiho will also be deeply missed by his family in Australia.
“Alexi was the most loving and magnificent husband and father. Our hearts are eternally broken”, Kelli Wright-Laiho says.
The remaining members of Bodom After Midnight do not give any interviews at this time.
