Wichita police said they are looking for Keshawn Maurice Dawson as a suspect in the Enigma Night Club shooting. Dawson is wanted on two felony warrants in Sedgwick County and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. Police said Dawson used a semi-automatic pistol.
Police said Dawson left in a dark-colored vehicle that someone else was driving. Wichita police identified a 34-year-old man as the victim of a shooting at Enigma Club & Lounge early Tuesday morning. Police identified the victim as Preston Spencer of Wichita. Wichita police originally said that along with Spencer’s death, seven people were injured, but in a statement later Tuesday morning, they said only five women were injured.

Captain Jason Stephens identified the alleged assailant as Keshawn Dawson. He is also wanted on two felony warrants in Sedgwick County and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Officers were called around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday to a shooting at the Enigma Club & Lounge in the 300 blocks of North Mosley. Police said they had been kicked out of the club after a fight, returned with a gun, and opened fire from the sidewalk. He then fled in a dark-colored vehicle.
One of the victims, Preston Spencer, 34, died. According to a GoFundMe page, Spencer leaves behind a wife and two children. His last Facebook post on Saturday was to celebrate his son’s fifth birthday. My heart is overwhelmed with grief. My oldest son, Preston Atlas Spencer, was shot and killed in a random act of gun violence,” Spencer’s mother shared on social media. “We need his prayers !!”
The man who was kicked out of an “exclusive” Kansas nightclub returned and opened fire in the early hours of Tuesday, Sept. 7, leaving one person dead and seven wounded, police said. Officers were called to the Enigma Club & Lounge in the Old Town section of the city for reports of gunfire around 12:30 a.m. M. The suspect was reportedly expelled from the club after getting into a fight that the police described as an “unknown disturbance”. Reports cite that Spencer returned to the scene around 12.30 a.m. and he started shooting in the nightclub with a pistol.
“[Suspicion] fired several shots from outside the club into the club,” said Wichita Police Captain Wendell Nicholson. A similar incident was reported in Richmond, California in June when 3 people were killed and 5 injured in a mass shooting. A nighttime shooting in North Carolina left two people dead and two others injured around the same time. The Baltimore mass shooting left one person dead and five others seriously injured after “two or three” suspects opened fire on June 16.
Preston Spencer, 34, of Wichita was reportedly killed in the shooting, while 7 others were wounded. 2 people were reportedly hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The suspect has not yet been identified and remains at large. He is described as five foot nine, black, and in his early 20s. The police are actively seeking information that may lead to his arrest. Police have not yet determined what caused the altercation that led to the shooting. So far no arrests have been made in the case.

“We are still collecting video, processing the scene here, and interviewing various witnesses who were in and around the club when this happened. Officers are still trying to put the pieces together. Obviously, the homicide section has been called. There are multiple witnesses. they were in and around the club, “said Wichita Police Capt. Wendell Nicholson.
