English rock band Procol Harum’s lyricist Keith Reid passed away at the age of 76. The band, well known for their 1967 single A Whiter Shade Of Pale, issued a Facebook statement on Wednesday confirming Keith’s passing. The organisation disclosed that Keith, a resident of Hertfordshire, had been undergoing cancer treatment when he ‘died abruptly’ last Thursday in London.

It is with the utmost sadness that we must announce the demise of the songwriter Keith Reid, who passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2023, in a London hospital. During the previous two years, he had been undergoing cancer treatment. Keith co-founded Procol Harum and wrote the lyrics for their biggest song, A Whiter Shade of Pale, which includes some of the most perplexing lyrics ever.
